To identify your series, check the inside face of the end post for a stamped date code and series marking - usually a small “CL,” “ES,” or “SG” followed by a two-digit year. If the stamp is painted over, measure the post width and check whether the horizontal rails slide into the post (Classic) or bolt to the face (Estate). Signs Your ES Windows Fence Installation Is Failing

• Gate sag and latch misalignment. The gate frame is a welded rectangle with no diagonal brace; once the top hinge rail starts to fatigue, gravity takes over. In Mission Viejo’s dry summers followed by wet winters, the thermal expansion cycle accelerates the weld stress at the hinge side.
• Post lean after storms. ES Windows posts are set on a steel base plate or direct-buried with concrete; if the concrete collar cracks or the base plate anchor bolts shear, the post tilts toward the downhill side. • Panel rattle or visible flex in wind. This means the rail-to-picket connection has loosened, usually because the self-tapping screws have backed out or the picket slots have elongated. The fence still stands but the structural redundancy is gone - the next Santa Ana gust concentrates load on fewer points.
